Now & Then

Wednesday Night, October 12th, The Rolling Stones took to the stage at Wachovia Center in Philadelphia; "The Big Joint..." as it is called. This time, we were there!. It was truly, a Rock 'n Roll revival. 22,000 people, spanning three generations; Twenty Two Thousand fanatics were on their feet for the whole concert, paying homage to the worlds greatest Rock 'n Roll band. It was a night that this webmaster will never forget. It brought tears to my eyes. It was food for my soul. To see these Gods of Rock, still doing it with the same gusto as in the beginning brings hope for longevity. Long Live the Rolling Stones! May they remain healthy and strong for a very long time to come.

There was a time when cameras were allowed at concerts. Memories of trying to capture the Beatles from the third deck in Shea Stadium, where if the wind was blowing in our direction, above the screaming of girls dazed and star struck, we could actually hear music for that very moment. My only camera, a 35 mm with not even the slightest zoom lens, captured but specks on film.

That was then, this is now. Modern technology, lasers, giant screens with live images of the show, music blasting that makes your ears ring for days, bright & colorful lights that pick you up and take you away; but now, back to that camera. You will have your camera confiscated if used nowadays in most concert halls. This photographer attempted to sneak some peeks with a Treo handheld with camera built in. No zoom again, blasted. And, not even specks on film did the band appear. The sfx's were great. The following is what we shot, that very eventful night. It was quite a happening!

You really had to be there. But, the shots above express the emotions spent the night of the 12th October, 2005
